Visa Information

Unless you are an Australian citizen, you will need a valid Australian visa to enter the country. New Zealand passport holders can apply for a visa upon arrival in the country. All other passport holders, regardless of age, must apply for a visa before leaving home.

For general information about the range of Australian visa types, visit the Australia Visa FAQ page.

The three basic types of Visitor Visas are as follows.

  • Electronic Travel Authority visa (subclass 601)
This visa is available only to passport holders from certain countries. The cost is 20 AUD. In most cases, you will be notified of the result of your ETA application immediately.

NOTE: ETA-eligible passport holders must apply for an ETA using the Australian ETA app. If you are unable to downlaod and use the app, you can apply online for a different visitor visa.
  • eVisitor (subclass 651)
This visa is available only to passport holders from a number of European countries. There is no cost to apply. In most cases, processing time is less than one day.
  • Visitor visa (subclass 600)
This visa is open to all nationalities. The cost is 190 AUD. The approval time is generally about 2 weeks, but does vary and can be extensive and may require health and other verifications to be completed.
