Getting to and from the Sydney airport

Sydney Public Transportation System, which offers the following options for payment of fares:

  • An Opal card, which  can be used as much as you want on metro, train, bus, ferry and light rail services within the Opal network, up to the following daily/weekly caps (given in AUD):
    • $17.80 a day on Mondays to Thursdays
    • $8.90 a day on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays
    • $50 a week
  • Contactless payment using an American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card or a linked device is also available on metro/train, bus, ferry, and light rail services within the Opal network, but foreign transaction fees may be charged by your card issuer.
